The White House

Simplified communications for a complex grant program for The White House and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to boost awareness. Interviewed, wrote personal stories about grant recipients to illustrate and clarify the aid process and results. Influenced civic engagements, increased public awareness of grant program. Results: The U.S. President asked Cabinet members to use this original work as a model for their own campaigns.

Directed a new national marketing and PR campaign after direct competitor revised its PR strategy and increased sales. Evaluated communications directive and created a new media strategy (delivered in 3 months) for IT products and services with a $20 billion ceiling. This included cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics and mobile tech. Created a new website, logo, marketing materials, tradeshow booths, press releases, media pitches, educational materials, classes/teaching materials and media coaching with executives. Results: Customer spending increased by $30 million (37 percent) in one year after campaign implementation.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

Coordinated PR for the official national launch of the national suicide prevention hotline 988 and its spokesperson, a former White House official. Every major media outlet covered the story, reaching billions. Multiple press releases were tailored and targeted to different media groups with varying news angles, including the overall 988 mission and reaching communities of color. Scripps’ 61 television stations, iHeart Radio’s 86 stations, Good Day LA, Yahoo and more ran the story. Calls, texts and messages to 988 increased by 28 percent in a month.

Executive management

National public figure requested a new messaging strategy to improve local to international media presence. Wrote talking points, press releases, media alerts, statements, op-eds, Facebook posts and more. Managed crisis communications and prepped executive for media responses and appearances. Results: Average daily media placements increased from three to 17. Became a sought-after nightly news guest speaker on issues related to industry and work.

Well Aware

Communications campaign for a global nonprofit resulted in multiple live television interviews in Texas and Africa, radio interviews and print stories such as ESPN and USA Today. Exceeded funding goals, and annual awareness events sold out with at least 50 percent of attendees new to its cause. This resulted in new donor engagements in addition to media recognition. Identified new writing and speaking engagements from a local to national level to highlight the founder and executive director's expertise as a subject matter expert in her field. She was later named a Toyota Mother of Invention.

U.S. Courts System

Developed a cross-functional communications plan after the U.S. Supreme Court asked for an improved website and communications materials. Reviewed messaging from 30 departments and national call center. This resulted in streamlining all leadership messaging for a website with 500 million documents used by 1 million people. Wrote, edited director’s messaging, created internal/external newsletters, informational videos, change management plans and branding. Results: User engagement, client satisfaction increased by 26 percent one year after changing messaging strategy.
